The dermatologists at Cascade Eye & Skin Centers, P.C., in University Place / Tacoma, in Puyallup, and elsewhere in western Washington are among the most respected and experienced skin care professionals in the United States. Our physicians are board certified and our physician assistants are highly trained and experienced.

Barbara J. Fox, M.D.

Barbara J. Fox, M.D.Dr. Barbara, as she is called in our office, received her Bachelor of Arts degree with Phi Beta Kappa honors at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. She then graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She was a pediatric intern at Madigan Army Medical Center and then became the first woman to complete a dermatology residency at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco.

Dr. Fox is board-certified, has held several academic teaching positions, and has published numerous articles and book chapters for medical publications. She is especially beloved by her patients for her warm and caring bedside manner.

Dr. B is also a gifted classical musician. After high school, she toured Europe with a symphony orchestra. She has coached several state championship "Odyssey of the Mind" creativity competition teams and took her team of middle schoolers to the International OM competition in Germany. Dr. Fox is a dedicated quilter and has won several blue ribbons at the Puyallup fair. She and Dr. Leslie Fox were married in 1974 and have three children.

Robert F. Findlay, M.D.

Robert F. Findlay, M.D.Dr. Findlay received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, with honors, from North Dakota State University and graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis. His postgraduate training includes a dermatology residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, followed by subspecialty training in dermatopathology at the prestigious Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C. He is board-certified in dermatology, with special training and certification in skin pathology.

Dr. Findlay is a fine skier and enjoys hunting and fishing. He has been married to his wife Natalie for over 30 years.

Jessica H. Kim, M.D.

Jessica H. Kim, M.D.Dr. Kim received her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Cornell University’s College of Arts and Sciences in Ithaca, New York and received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  She completed an internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and then became a general medical officer for the US Army, completing a tour in Korea and at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia prior to her selection for dermatology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  After serving as the staff dermatologist at Madigan Army Medical Center, she joined Cascade’s dermatologists serving the Tacoma area.

Dr. Kim is board-certified in dermatology and has published in various medical journals.  She currently holds an academic appointment at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine (Dermatology Division).  She is a fellow of numerous professional organizations for dermatologists, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and Women’s Dermatologic Society.

Dr. Kim enjoys traveling, running, and playing tennis.  She also enjoys playing the piano and watercolor painting.

Brenda F. Kodama, M.D.

Brenda F. Kodama, M.D.Dr. Kodama attended the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors and was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She continued her medical education at the University of Hawaii. After medical school, she completed a medicine internship and then served for several years as a flight surgeon in Germany for the United States Army. Dr. Kodama performed her residency training in dermatology at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Colorado. She is board-certified in dermatology.

Dr. Kodama jogs regularly to keep up with her three children.

Robert J. Martin, M.D.

Robert J. Martin, M.D.Dr. Martin began his medical career at Oregon Health Sciences University, graduating in 1968. He did his rotating internship at Tripler Army Medical Center, finishing second in his class. Dr. Martin became the first resident in a new residency program for dermatologists at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center starting in September, 1970. As a new program, it was closely aligned with the University of Colorado dermatology program, lending the Fitzsimmons Center excellent academic exposure with even better clinical exposure. Dr. Martin finished his three years of dermatology training with a three-month fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology under Dr. Elson Helwig’s tutelage.
Dr. Martin became board-certified in dermatology in October, 1973 and certified in dermatopathology in November, 1974. He spent three years at Madigan Army Medical Center as one of the staff dermatologists. His exposure to the Tacoma area encouraged him to make it his home, and he began private practice in August, 1976.

Dr. Martin has three adult children and two grandchildren and lives with his wife Jan on a 10-acre farm in the Gig Harbor area, where they have been since 1977.

Maureen A. Mooney, M.D.

Maureen A. Mooney, M.D.Dr. Mooney graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She also attended medical school at the University of Minnesota. She went on to complete her dermatology residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. After her residency, she spent a couple of years in private practice. She then went on to complete first a dermatopathology fellowship and then a Mohs’ micrographic surgery fellowship.

Dr. Mooney is board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology and is a member of the American College of Mohs’ Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. Her main areas of practice are skin cancer and Mohs’ surgery.

Mireille Chae, M.D.

Mireille Chae, M.D.Dr. Chae brings unique experience and subspecialty expertise to Cascade Eye & Skin Centers, P.C. She became board certified in pediatrics after completing a pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota. She then continued her medical training in dermatology at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to pediatrics, she holds three other board certifications in dermatology, dermatopathology, and pediatric dermatology.

Prior to joining Cascade Eye & Skin Centers, P.C., Dr. Chae worked in Seattle in a well-respected pathology laboratory. Before moving back to the Northwest, she was a member of a busy dermatology group and dermatopathology practice in Minnesota, where she taught pediatric dermatology and dermatopathology at the University of Minnesota. She enjoys teaching and currently gives dermatology lectures on a regular basis at the University of Washington.

Kieu Dang, PA-C

Kieu Dang, PA-CKieu is a certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant program, and she is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Prior to joining Cascade Eye & Skin Centers, P.C., she practiced dermatology at the Polyclinic in Seattle. She also has many years of experience in family medicine and oncology.

Kieu’s special interests include general dermatology, dermatological surgery, and cosmetic dermatology including lasers, BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers, and sclerotherapy.

She is a proud member of the South Puget Sound Dermatology Society, Washington Academy of Physician Assistants, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistant, and Washington State Dermatology Association.

Troy Davis, PA-C

Troy Davis, PA-C Prior to joining Cascade Eye & Skin Centers, P.C., Mr. Davis was a decorated officer in the United States Air Force and served his country during many military campaigns, including Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The last four years of his twenty-year military career were spent as the Chief Physician Assistant at Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. While stationed at Wilford Hall, Mr. Davis was in charge of an internal medicine subspecialty clinic and was the only physician assistant to dermatologists for the Air Force.

Mr. Davis received a B.S. in Biomedical Studies from the University of Nebraska and completed his internship at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, where he served as the Chief Physician Assistant student. He is a proud member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, and the South Puget Sound Dermatology Society.

Mr. Davis spends his free time enjoying his family and the great outdoors. He is passionate about fishing, skiing, football, and anything with a motor.

Patricia Ferrer, PA-C

Patricia Ferrer, PA-CPatricia Ferrer is one of Cascade’s four physician assistants who aid our dermatologists. Ms. Ferrer graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and received her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska. She has six years of academic and clinical education, with more than ten years of experience as a dermatology physician assistant. She practices general and cosmetic dermatology and performs minor skin surgery.

To remain nationally certified, Ms. Ferrer completes 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and must pass a national recertification exam every six years. She has published two dermatology articles and has given lectures for the Tacoma Family Medicine Residency Program and the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants Winter Conference. Ms. Ferrer is a member of the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Pierce County Medical Society, the South Puget Sound Dermatology Society, the Washington State Medical Association, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Pacific Northwest Dermatology Society, and is an active member and chair of the Professional and Clinical Affairs Committee for the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She is the founder of the Southeast Florida Dermatology PA Society and has developed a lecture program for PAs in Dermatology.

She enjoys piano, tennis, and many outdoor activities.

Julie Jarvis, PA-C

Julie Jarvis, PA-CJulie Jarvis graduated from Wichita State University’s Physician Assistant Program with summa cum laude honors in 1997. She has specialized in dermatology since 1999. Before moving to the Pacific Northwest, she practiced in rural Kansas in women’s health, family practice and emergency medicine. She is an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants as well as state and national physician assistant organizations.

Julie and her husband, Wade Jarvis, are the parents of two college students. She enjoys animals and has a small hobby farm.

Alison M. Pruim, PA-C

Alison M. Pruim, PA-CAlison is a physician assistant specializing in dermatology. She grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Oregon in Eugene. She then received her physician assistant degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After PA school she practiced in Emmen, Drenthe, the Netherlands for two years before returning to the state of Washington.

She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the Washington Association of Physician Assistants, the South Puget Sound Dermatology Society, the Pierce County Medical Society, and the Dutch-American Chamber of Commerce.

Alison speaks fluent Dutch and enjoys spending time with her dog, cats, and husband in Gig Harbor, as well as traveling as much as possible.
